About Moissanite

An honest comparison

We won't tell you moissanite is a diamond. It's a different stone — and in several measurable ways, it outperforms one.

More fire

A refractive index of 2.65 splits light more sharply than a diamond does. In direct sun, the difference is not subtle.

No mine behind it

Grown in a controlled chamber over two to three months. No excavation, no supply chain you have to take on faith.

A tenth of the price

The same budget buys a stone three times the size — or pays for the honeymoon itself.

Origin

It fell out of the sky

Henri Moissan found moissanite in 1893, inside a meteor crater in Arizona. He thought he had found diamonds; it turned out to be silicon carbide. The natural form is far too rare for jewelry, so the stones we set are grown in a laboratory with exactly the same crystal structure.
